Role
Overview of the role: We are expanding our transport planning team in the North West and North East of the UK and are seeking a Transport / Senior Transport Planner with a background in development planning and transport engineering. You will work on high-profile projects for private and public sector clients and support internal project managers and external clients across the UK. The role is challenging and varied, with opportunities for skill development and professional qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Work as part of a team to assess the impacts of developments and develop appropriate mitigation
* Develop and commission transport-related surveys
* Technically analyse transport data, draw conclusions, and present findings
* Scope and produce Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Construction Traffic Management Plans, Servicing and Delivery Plans, EIA Traffic and Transport Chapters, and related documentation
* Provide technical advice on feasibility proposals for developments
* Develop mitigation measures, transport engineering solutions, and highway designs through feasibility and concept stages
* Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders
* Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and proposals for future work
* Post-implementation evaluation of projects
Candidate Specification
Essential
* A genuine interest in development-related transport planning, traffic management and highway engineering, with a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
* Experience of undertaking Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Construction Traffic Management Plans, Servicing and Delivery Plans, EIA Traffic and Transport Chapters and similar documentation
* Experience with transport planning software packages such as TRANSYT, LinSig, ARCADY, PICADY (JUNCTIONS 8), TRICS and TEMPRO
* Understanding of feasibility, concept and preliminary highway design to standards such as DMRB and Manual for Streets
* Strong numeracy and literacy with the ability to produce clear written and verbal communication
* Practical problem-solving ability and the ability to work independently or in a team
Desirable
* Private sector background with experience supporting Local Authority and Public Sector projects
* Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D or MXRoad and vehicle tracking packages
* Experience managing elements of projects, including internal project delivery
* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and clients, including leaders
* Experience working in partnership with clients
