Key Responsibilities
* Lead a department of over 70 technical experts to deliver the national water resources service
* Shape and scrutinise water companies’ statutory Water Resource Management Plans
* Provide expert input to the National Framework for Water Resources
* Manage programmes to deliver sustainable abstraction
* Plan and manage drought response and mitigation
* Develop talent and skills in water planning within the team and wider organisation
* Develop national modelling for water resources and groundwater
* Champion health, safety and wellbeing and foster an inclusive, supportive culture
* Lead operational delivery of services, ensuring effective use of resources and performance delivery
* Act as part of the Operations Catchment Services Leadership Team to influence strategy and programmes
Key Skills and Experience
* Authentic leadership with a strong focus on developing people and building a trusting, inclusive culture
* Excellent stakeholder management, customer focus and influencing skills
* Strategic thinker capable of spotting links and connections to identify opportunity, while simplifying to focus on what matters most
* Working knowledge of water resources management and awareness of environmental, political and economic pressures on the sector
* Experience managing large programmes and leading teams to deliver complex technical objectives
