Cherry Tree Primary School has an exciting opportunity for an SEMH Assistant to join the team as soon as possible.
Job Ref No. ECC3253-208S. Position Type: Teaching/Child Support. Pay Range: Scale 5, Point 9 (Range 9-12). Actual starting salary £20,099 per annum (including paid annual leave which must be taken during school closure periods).
Position Start Date: Immediate. Contract Type: Part-time. Contract Term: Permanent. Application Close: Midday on 15th October 2025. Date of Interviews: Monday 20th October 2025.
Hours: 8:40am to 3:15pm (including a 30 minute break), Monday to Friday. One day per week to work an additional 30 minutes (before or after school). 31 hours per week, term time (plus 5 INSET days), 39 weeks per year.
Responsibilities
* Support pupils with SEMH needs and ASD, focusing on developing social skills and addressing SEMH challenges.
* Contribute to a positive, energetic and flexible approach to the role and maintain excellent communication with staff, pupils and families.
* Support the class teacher and work as part of an enthusiastic team to promote learning and wellbeing.
Qualifications
* Experience in working with children with special education needs, particularly SEMH.
* Understanding of or training in therapeutic approaches to support SEMH and wellbeing.
* Strong organisational and communication skills; ability to be a positive and enthusiastic team player.
* Passion for working with children with additional needs.
