Operations Manager

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Operations Manager to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business.

Ideally, you will based in or around the Thames Water area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.

What you will be doing:

1. Accountable for all activities of project & programme delivery, ensuring that health & safety, programme, design, procurement, financial control and site activities are managed to the highest standards throughout the project lifecycle
2. Influence the operational delivery structure to drive outstanding performance
3. Align to the client’s direction and needs, interpret contract commitments and to manage stakeholder expectations
4. Responsible for ensuring the key deliverables within each stage of the project and programme are being administered to the highest quality
5. Ensure that the proper interpretation of the design briefs are established and the delivered solutions meet and exceed the expectations of internal and external stakeholders
6. Promote strong H&S behaviours
7. Develop of strong team working relationships
8. Provide a vision and define clear team roles, responsibilities and objectives whilst providing a hands-on approach to supporting the Project Team
9. Manage people, resources and relationships to ensure effective delivery of programmes and projects
10. Ensuring all projects adhere to Galliford Try’s high-quality standards and instilling a right first-time approach
11. Build trust with customers and stakeholders, keeping them updated on progress and acting upon feedback
12. Empower others to innovate and drive continuous improvement
13. Supporting the designated individual in ensuring temporary works is followed
14. Make sound, evidence-based decisions, assessing risks and identifying opportunity
15. Encourage commercial challenge at all times
16. Lead our approach to collaborative planning to drive outperformance
17. Ensure compliance to Internal and client system & procedures

Experience and Qualifications:

18. An industry applicable ONC/HNC/ or NVQ equivalent
19. H&S qualifications
20. IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety & Health) or CITB (Construction Industry Training Body) Day Site Safety Management (SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)),
21. CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card
22. Demonstrable experience of working within the waste and / or water industries
23. Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
24. Dedicated team player but also able to work as an individual
25. Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate time management to comply with deadlines
26. Able to work in a busy environment under pressure
27. Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face)
28. Possess a “can do” attitude and provide to support to other members of the team as required
