Join us for a 12-month fixed-term opportunity as our Procurement and Commercial Manager, where you’ll shape strategic sourcing and supplier partnerships at the heart of our digital change agenda. Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead end-to-end procurement and commercial activity across strategic transformation programmes, including sourcing, tendering, negotiation, and contract management.
2. Advise and influence senior stakeholders, including Executives and Programme Leads, shaping procurement strategies and commercial aspects of business cases.
3. Drive innovation and value creation, developing commercial models that deliver cost savings, risk mitigation, and supplier performance excellence.
4. Embed strong financial and risk governance, ensuring compliance with policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements across all procurement processes.
5. Foster cross-functional collaboration, building stakeholder understanding of procurement best practice and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
6. Lead change and champion new ways of working, supporting the successful implementation of procurement systems, policies, and transformation goals.

What We’re Looking For:

You’ll bring a rare mix of commercial acumen, leadership confidence, and transformation experience. The ideal candidate will have:

7. Proven experience commercially leading large-scale IT projects or enterprise-wide transformation programmes.
8. Strong track record in contract negotiation, drafting, and strategic sourcing.
9. In-depth understanding of procurement lifecycle best practice, legislation, and commercial risk management.
10. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, comfortable engaging at Exec level.
11. Analytical mindset with the ability to develop cost models, commercial strategies, and benefit realisation plans.
12. A hands-on, proactive approach with excellent communication and leadership skills.
13. Proficient in using procurement systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
14. MCIPS (or working towards) or equivalent professional procurement qualification is desirable.
15. Experience in supplier relationship management and category strategy development.
16. Background in financial services, public sector, or complex regulated environments.

Medical Protection Society (MPS) is the world’s leading protection organisation for Doctors, Dentists and healthcare professionals. We protect and support the professional interests of almost 300,000 Members around the world.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, meaning our Members’ premiums are kept safe should our Members require support for complaints or claims arising from professional practice, or invested into bettering the organisation, our colleagues and our products.
