About the Role
As the Classic Car Mechanic, youll be deep in the engine bays and under the chassis of high-end classics think Jaguars, Aston Martins, Rolls-Royces and Bentleys. Youll handle everything from routine servicing and mechanical fault-finding through to full mechanical rebuilds and bespoke fabrications. Youll be expected to work independently when required, yet also collaborate closely with body and paint teams to ensure each vehicle meets show-standards. Expect to engage in welding and fabrication support, mechanical diagnostics, installation of performance upgrades, and prepping cars for concours or customer delivery.
About the Client
Our client is a family-run restoration house thats been operating in the classic vehicle market for more than 35 years. Based in Cheslyn Hay (Cannock area) they specialise in nut-and-bolt restorations, full mechanical and body works, and servicing of performance classics. Theyve earned their stripes restoring some of the most iconic British marques and deliver work that regularly features in specialist publications and car-shows.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 08:00 17:00
Key Duties
* Perform servicing, mechanical repairs and rebuilds on classic cars to high standards.
* Diagnose and correct mechanical faults, including engine, transmission and chassis work.
* Fit components, perform welding and fabrication tasks when required.
* Work alongside body, paint and detailing teams to prepare vehicles for showroom or concours presentation.
* Maintain workshop records, quality checks and ensure work meets the clients high standard.
* Ensure workshop housekeeping, tool and equipment care, and adherence to health & safety.
* Occasionally assist with transport, vehicle preparation or move-in/out of restoration projects.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience working on classic cars ideally British marques (Jaguar, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce/Bentley) or equivalent.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to carry out fault-finding and rebuilds.
* Welding/fabrication experience is beneficial but not necessary.
* Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a small team.
* Passion for heritage vehicles, high attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Right to work in the UK.
* This is not a Trainee position.
