Department overview The Strategy and Business Office function at Aston Martin Lagonda (AML) is responsible for Corporate Strategy, Product Strategy, Regulatory Engagement Strategy and Government affairs, Fleet CO2 and Credit Trades and Delivery and Business Transformation. Job Purpose: Responsible for: - Manage the annual Strategic Planning Process (Needs to Strategy Deployment) in tandem with the Financial Team, to deliver a sound corporate business plan - With functions, develop and help structure inputs to the planning cycle: Strategic Plan’ (A) and ‘Operating plan’ (B). The role is a cornerstone of Strategy Deployment - Support with finance the deployment of the corporate plan into functional business plans / targets, to implement and communicate a sustainable business model for AML - Oversee the ongoing Transformation programme for AML, and ensure Transformation targets and commitments are fully embedded into functional targets and budgets - Develop, with finance, monthly reporting metrics and lead the Ex-Co-reviews identifying gaps to target, driving remedial actions from the functions and promoting a mindset of continuous improvement - Operate as the Corporate PMO to develop and implement specific projects to improve business performance. Key duties and responsibilities Develop Corporate Strategy Manage cross functional input to the Strategic Planning process, using best practice governance and project management Analyses corporate / market intelligence and trends and gather insights from external sources & across the business for application to AML Support and present at Ex Co Strategy workshops to develop and maintain the Corporate Strategy Develop materials to support the cascade of the Corporate Strategy to all stakeholders and assist deployment into functional through the Annual Planning process. Create input for the PLC annual report Deliver the Strategic Planning Process Oversee and govern the Strategic Planning Process – Needs to Strategy Deployment Ensure stability in assumptions and timely adherence to systematic process steps from defined contributors Identify areas for continual improvement and implement them Work closely with finance and drive activity across business functions to optimise the business plan and meet PLC targets Identify risks and instigate activities to mitigate Run scenario / sensitivity analysis such that the business is prepared for short-, medium- and long-term shocks Deliver the Business Transformation programme Observe the ongoing Business Transformation programme, embedding targets and commitments into annual functional plans, and correlate with the business plan Track delivery to targets and drive action in functions to recover deviation Engender a focus on Continuous Improvement and identify opportunities through the annual planning process for new Transformation actions. Lead specific topics in Ex Co Strategy meetings to review / develop Transformation actions Present objective input to Ex Co Ops meetings of delivery vs Transformation targets and challenge Ex Co members on status and recovery actions People Management Coach and develop the PMO to achieve high performance, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Monitor output and effectiveness, providing constructive feedback on performance [if matrix managing - to the reporting line manager] Experience and qualifications Essential experience Extensive experience and proven track record of strategy development and implementation High level of business acumen and financial literacy with an ability to evidence the link between strategy and shareholder value creation Experience with Business Planning processes Deep understanding of AML operations Expert Project management experience Experience of both leading and supporting Business Planning processes A thorough understanding of the impact of environmental & sustainability compliance on the auto industry.
