Band 2 receptionist / support worker - radiology

Birmingham (West Midlands)
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust
Support worker
Posted: 19h ago
Offer description

Our receptionists / support workers provide a fantastic service to our patients and team of radiographers from 07:30am to 8:00 pm, 5 days per week. We are now looking to recruit 3 additional staff to support the department.

This hybrid role includes providing care and support to patients, such as personal care, assisting with toileting, manual handling, escorting patients, answering queries, and liaising with ambulance services.

As a receptionist, you will meet and greet patients, help book appointments, including clinics, and guide them around the department. You will also contribute to the smooth running of the department and waiting areas by supporting staff as needed.

This active role involves lifting, supporting patients, navigating a large radiotherapy department across two floors, and handling medical equipment.

Our Receptionists / Support Workers are key in providing a warm welcome and caring service to patients and supporting radiographers.

We seek empathetic, compassionate, and caring individuals who enjoy supporting patients. You will handle stressed, unwell, tired, and vulnerable patients, providing kindness and support.

As a team member, you should have an adaptable approach, prioritize changing workloads, and maintain a caring attitude. Computer literacy is required for daily use of Trust IT systems. Attention to detail and supporting the wider team are essential.

Previous experience in care is preferred; reception experience is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided.

The QEHB Radiotherapy service employs around 115 staff, treating approximately 4,500 new patients annually with high-quality radiotherapy. The department is a leading NHS service.

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust promotes an inclusive culture, valuing diversity and supporting staff with disabilities through reasonable adjustments.

Applicants should commit to full-time hours (7.5 hours daily), covering shifts between 7:30 am and 8 pm. Flexibility in working days is available.

We value applicants who embody our core values: KIND, CONNECTED, and BOLD.

In return, you will join a welcoming, supportive team that offers training and development to help you deliver excellent patient care.
