Purpose of Role
This is an opportunity to join a dynamic legal and compliance team that is helping to transform surgery, for good. The role reports to the Chief Corporate Strategy & Chief Legal Officer and is critical to ensuring the department delivers its objectives to the business through the management and support of projects across the full range of subject matters served by the Legal & Compliance team.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategies to improve legal department operations, optimising processes, policies and procedures.
* Manage the legal department’s external legal spend, monitor budgets, forecast needs and implement cost‑saving measures.
* Evaluate, implement and manage legal and compliance technology solutions, e.g. a contract management tool, to improve department efficiency.
* Work closely with other departments to align the legal team with broader business goals and participate in cross‑functional projects and initiatives.
* Analyse legal data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and prepare reports for senior management to aid decision‑making.
* Oversee legal and compliance projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget and aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals.
* Support company secretarial functions, including board meeting preparation, follow‑up and Companies House filings.
* Provide agile support at Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel level, organising Legal & Compliance team meeting cadences, taking minutes, managing the inbox, creating and updating folders and navigating the document management system.
* Manage learning activities with colleagues outside the team and internal continuous development opportunities.

* Demonstrable communication skills and a collaborative approach that partners with other groups to obtain stakeholder buy‑in and drive change.
* Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and provide succinct reports and recommendations.
* Strong judgement, discretion and decision‑making skills within an agile, fast‑paced environment.
* Highly motivated, with strong personal ethics, a positive attitude and operational rigor, embodying a "can‑do" approach.
* Outstanding organisational skills, able to manage and prioritise complex matters with competing deadlines.
