Position Summary The Medical Assistant exudes a strong dedication to offering exceptional patient care. Capability to facilitate the efficient flow of the patient office visit experience while maintaining high quality and compassionate care. Major Duties and Responsibilities Perform patient intake to include medical history with accurate documentation in the electronic health record. Patient triage to include vital signs (i.e. blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height and weight). Perform phlebotomy and ancillary clinical kit testing and specimen collection. Administering immunizations and variety of injections. Maintain temperature logs, QA processes, OSHA policies. Ensure accurate performance of EKG’s. Assisting physician with gynecologic, surgical and wound procedures/exams. Completing pharmaceutical prior authorizations. Phone triage to include communication with pharmacies for patient medication refills. Performing Medicare Annual Wellness Visits. Exam room set up/ cleaning/stocking Electronic input of patient lab/radiology orders. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine laboratory tests. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to operate, clean and sterilize. Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology to communicate with medical and laboratory staff. Skill in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Skill in proper reporting of laboratory tests. Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics. Skill in appropriately billing orders collected. Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer. Ability to work in multiple computer systems effectively. Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. EDUCATION/TRAINING/REQUIREMENTS COVID 19 Vaccination required. Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, or RMA). Current CPR or BLS certificate.
