We are currently looking for a Filling Operator to join us at our facility in Wellingborough.
The purpose of the role is to operate filling lines to meet planned volumes and targets in accordance with safety and quality standards. Responsible for delivering manufacturing performance targets by following operating procedures and participating in continuous improvement activities to enhance HSE, quality, cost, delivery, and team development.
Key responsibilities:
1. Operate automated and manual filling & packing equipment, including packaging and labelling equipment and semi-automatic filling lines related to Retail kits.
2. Set up and change over production filling lines efficiently, including effective and timely clean downs.
3. Maintain high standards of housekeeping, monitor performance against targets (HSE, quality, OEE, waste), and participate in safety, quality, and continuous improvement activities.
4. Organize components for production runs to ensure continuous line operation and optimal OEE.
5. Complete paperwork accurately and timely, report issues via the appropriate system, and adhere to safety procedures.
6. Communicate effectively at all levels, escalate issues over 5 minutes to the Line Leader, and contribute to daily briefings.
7. Be competent across all U-POL filling lines for rotation, performance recording, standard maintenance, and issue resolution.
8. Challenge personal performance, develop skills, support team targets, and ensure proper staff organization and task understanding.
9. Understand the business context, including the supply chain and filling operations as part of the overall strategy.
10. Apply continuous improvement tools in daily work and participate actively in improvement teams.
Key requirements:
1. GCSE/NVQ Level 2 or 3 years’ experience in filling/packing operations.
2. Competent in numeracy, able to interpret data, work orders, and filling records.
3. Experience with business systems, data entry, and operating PLC-controlled equipment.
4. Experience in chemical filling & packing industry.
5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with problem-solving abilities.
