The Technical Assessor / Tutor will focus primarily on assessment, where you will support apprentices to develop occupational competence and achieve End Point Assessment (EPA) readiness.
Working closely with employers, trainers and internal stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring apprentices make strong progress, receive high-quality feedback, and successfully complete their programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assess apprentices against apprenticeship standards (Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours) and occupational qualifications
2. Conduct workplace observations, professional discussions and evidence reviews
3. Deliver structured progress reviews, setting clear targets and tracking learner development
4. Provide constructive feedback to support improvement and EPA readiness
5. Support apprentices with targeted technical tutoring where gaps are identified
6. Support technical training delivery as a secondary or supporting tutor
7. Prepare learners for EPA and determine gateway readiness in collaboration with employers
8. Deliver engaging PHSE sessions to support personal development and workplace behaviours
9. Maintain accurate records within e-portfolio and MIS systems
10. Ensure compliance with ESFA funding rules, awarding organisations and quality standards
11. Escalate safeguarding or wellbeing concerns in line with procedures
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential:
12. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering, Plant or Service discipline
13. Minimum 4 years’ industry experience
14. Assessor qualification (TAQA / A1) or willingness to achieve
15. Experience assessing occupational competence in the workplace
Desirable:
16. Apprenticeship or EPA experience
17. Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification
Skills & Knowledge:
18. Understanding of apprenticeship standards and assessment practices
19. Excellent communication and coaching skills
20. Ability to challenge and support learners to achieve their potential
21. Highly organised with strong attention to detail
22. Confident using digital systems (e-portfolio / MIS)
23. Knowledge of ESFA funding rules, Ofsted expectations and safeguarding principles
