Hours of work: 40 hours per week
Location: Wainscott Barracks, Chatham
Responsibilities
* The service and maintenance of diesel, MOTS and electrical MHE and Plant vehicles and other associated ancillary equipment.
* Liaising with the controller and customer on the expected scope of work, clarifying timelines and costs.
* Identifying the root cause of a breakdown quickly and ensuring the correct parts are procured cost‑effectively.
* Performing inspections and checks on own work, ensuring equipment is safe before handing back to the customer.
* Notifying the customer of any additional work, especially where a cost may be incurred, and maximizing revenue from damaged equipment.
* Completing all related job and service documentation correctly, obtaining required signatures and documents from the customer.
Qualifications
* Level 3 Apprenticeship (C&G or NVQ Technical Certificate and Functional Skills) in a related engineering function such as Vehicle Systems Maintenance, Vehicle Electrics, Electronics, Vehicle Diagnostics, Automotive Engineering, Hydraulics or Power Train.
* Significant experience working in a related engineering function, Car Mechanic, HGV Fitter, Plant Fitter or a formal apprenticeship qualification.
* Successful candidates who achieve Sponsored Reservist Status with the UK Ministry of Defence’s Army Reserve may be offered a permanent contract.
