Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Healthcare Assistant to provide high quality services to the community who use the Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health (iCaSH) services across Cambridgeshire. You will be based at our site in Cambridge, located at Brookfield's Hospital.
You will have front of house experience with a demonstrable ability to develop a warm and welcoming rapport with people who use our services. You should have a keen eye for detail and understand the sensitivity and confidentiality involved in the delivery of contraception, sexual health and HIV services.
You are required to hold a Care Certificate qualification, be trained to provide both phlebotomy and chaperone duties, or demonstrate a willingness to undertake training.

You must be willing to work across all parts of the service where appropriate and meet the travel requirements of the Trust.
You will be part of a dynamic team who ensure efficient and effective use of available resources in meeting the contraception, sexual health and HIV care needs of people in Cambridgeshire.
Job Purpose
The post holder will support the delivery of healthcare for patients attending the iCaSH service, which is part of Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS). This may include supporting patients who present with sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, contraception requirements and/or any other sexual health related problems.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Welcome patients and obtain relevant personal and clinical details, treating all information as confidential.
* Act as a chaperone after training and signed-off competency, assisting nurses/doctors with intimate examinations/procedures and sexual health screening.
* Provide information to patients and those diagnosed with an STI/HIV or requiring contraception advice, risk reduction advice and condom demonstration.
* Provide a service for asymptomatic patients requesting a routine sexual health screen where required after training and sign-off.
* Provide phlebotomy services for patients after training.
* Direct patients to relevant individuals/agencies while accessing health care.
* Participate in outreach and support health promotion events when requested.
* Undertake annual appraisal, one-to-ones and clinical supervision as part of professional development.
* Be non-judgemental to all client groups and assist in updating clinic noticeboards.
* Support the admin team with non-clinical duties including reception cover, call handling (0300 number), registering patients and data collection.
* Issue C-card and condoms following training.
* Read and interpret microscopy slides as directed by clinicians and document findings where required.
* Administer prescribed vaccines in accordance with service guidelines and SOPs where required.
* Hold the Care Certificate and deliver its standards or undertake training upon recruitment.
Communication
Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to promote efficient patient care; liaise with other services as necessary for coordination of patient care; maintain accurate record keeping; welcome visitors and provide information where required; ensure confidentiality and secure storage of patient records.
Other Responsibilities
* Signpost clients to other services and support the teaching and supervision of students where appropriate.
* Ensure attendance at relevant meetings during shifts and complete mandatory training.
* Direct and escort patients and visitors around the clinic and ensure safe-keeping of patient property.
* Observe safeguarding responsibilities for children and adults at risk and comply with CCS safeguarding policies.
* Support stock control and ordering in line with CCS Medicines Management Policy.
* Contribute to patient care development and participate in audits and clinical governance processes as directed.
* Prepare clinic rooms, ensure equipment and supplies are available, and restock as needed.
Safeguarding and Governance
Safeguarding is a collective responsibility for protecting health, wellbeing and human rights. All staff must comply with safeguarding partnerships and CCS policies, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to information governance, risk management and infection prevention and control policies. All staff must undertake mandatory training and participate in audits and clinical supervision as required.
Qualifications and Employment Conditions
The post requires the Care Certificate, and the ability to undertake training for phlebotomy, chaperone duties, microscopy interpretation and vaccination administration if required.
