About The Role
Animal Care Technician – Farm Animals (Including Donkeys) – Shaftesbury Millie College. We are seeking a dedicated Animal Care Technician to join our team, working primarily with a variety of farm animals—including donkeys, goats and sheep. You’ll play a vital role in supporting our educational and therapeutic programs, ensuring the highest standards of care and wellbeing for our animals.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out daily care routines for all farm animals, including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring.
* Assist with veterinary visits and maintain hygiene standards across the animal provision.
* Prepare animals for educational and therapeutic sessions, supporting students (including those with special needs).
* Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and maintain accurate records.
* Work as part of a rota to provide consistent care, including some weekend and holiday cover.
What We’re Looking For
* Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and empathetic individuals with a genuine passion for animal welfare.
* Calm and adaptable approach, able to manage multiple priorities.
* Experience working with farm animals, and equines/donkeys, is highly desirable.
* Commitment to safety, compliance, and excellence in animal care.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team of staff and volunteers.
* An interest in the delivery of animal assisted therapy.
