This is a unique opportunity to join HEIW as Pharmacy Dean, a significant national leadership role at the core of healthcare education and workforce transformation in Wales. Focused on strategic innovation, collaboration, and impact, this position offers the chance to shape pharmacy education, policy, and practice across the UK.
As Pharmacy Dean, you will develop a world-class pharmacy workforce to meet evolving needs, providing visionary leadership for the Pharmacy Deanery, collaborating with healthcare leaders and policymakers to implement sustainable education strategies.
This role involves shaping national policy, promoting multi-professional working, embedding digital innovation, and championing quality in education. It’s an opportunity to lead with purpose and make a meaningful impact on health outcomes in Wales.

Main Duties
1. Leading development and implementation of a pharmacy workforce strategy for Wales.
2. Overseeing pharmacy education and training quality assurance and improvement.
3. Managing approximately 50 staff and senior pharmacy leaders.
4. Representing HEIW on national forums and influencing UK-wide pharmacy policy.
5. Driving multi-professional collaboration and digital innovation.
6. Aligning with HEIW’s Medium-Term Plan and the national Workforce Strategy.
7. Monitoring performance, budgets, and governance across education and workforce initiatives.
Welsh language skills are desirable; applications from Welsh and English speakers are equally welcome.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience influencing pharmacy education at the national level in the UK.
* Knowledge of NHS education sector and differences across devolved nations.
* Experience in financial planning and managing significant budgets.
* Experience leading transformational change in clinical settings.
* Proven record in pharmacy education development across sectors.
* Expertise in national policy and strategy development.
* Extensive network of high-level stakeholders.
* Leadership in managing high-performing teams.
* Experience working with pharmacy regulators and professional bodies.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or MPharm), GPhC registration, NHS experience.
* Masters or Doctorate or evidence of research skills.
* Advanced knowledge in pharmacy education and practice.
* Broad experience in clinical, managerial, educational roles, and Welsh policy.
* Understanding of Welsh NHS and education sectors.
* Experience collaborating with social services and third sectors.
Note: Temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the living wage (£12.60/hr, £24,638/year) until the 2025/26 pay uplift is confirmed.
