Job Summary
To exercise the highest standard of patient care and actively improve the patient experience by providing a comprehensive and effective high‑quality ultrasound service, performing a range of examinations, maintaining expertise in imaging equipment, adapting sonographic technique as required, evaluating and prioritising referrals according to clinical protocols, ensuring confidentiality, escalating issues to senior staff, maintaining accurate records, complying with infection control policies, liaising with radiologists, working independently, participating in QA programmes, following health & safety and risk assessment procedures, and undertaking further education through CPD.
Main Duties
* Perform a range of ultrasound examinations.
* Maintain a high level of expertise in the safe operation of imaging equipment.
* Adapt sonographic technique based on patient presentation.
* Ensure referrals are evaluated and prioritised per protocols.
* Maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
* Escalate issues to senior staff.
* Comply with national & local infection control policies.
* Liaise with the radiologist or referring consultant.
* Work with minimal supervision or own initiative.
* Participate in QA programmes.
* Follow the Health & Safety at Work Act.
* Support risk assessments to provide a safe environment.
* Participate in further education/CPD and complete portfolio.
Qualifications & Experience
* BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or an equivalent HCPC‑approved qualification.
* Full clean driving licence and access to a car.
* Some post‑registration experience.
* Experience of working unsupervised if recently qualified.
* Current professional knowledge relevant to the post.
* Safe use of relevant equipment.
* Maintains a CPD portfolio.
* Desirable: MSK experience.
