SEMH Teaching AssistantLocation: East GrinsteadJob Type: Full-TimeWorking Hours: Mon/Tue/Thur 08:45 - 16:00, Wed 08:45-16:30, Fri 08:45-15:30Pay: £90-£95 Day RateWe are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a team, providing support to children and young people with emotional, behavioural, social, and communication difficulties. The role requires a proactive individual who can work closely with teachers to enhance the learning environment and ensure the welfare of students.Day to day of the role:
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons.
* Work closely with designated children, following the teacher’s guidance on work and play activities.
* Provide general support for behaviour management and assist the teacher with classroom tasks.
* Accompany students who leave the classroom and monitor students outside of class times.
* Familiarise with all school policies, rules, health & safety, and legal requirements and work in accordance with them.
* Assist with lesson preparation and paperwork upkeep.
* Be available to transport students to off-site activities, using the school van or own car if necessary.
* Support a positive working culture, high-quality teaching and learning, and the development and implementation of change.
* Promote excellent behaviour for learning and caring, respectful relationships.
* Undertake professional development and appraisal, enforce classroom expectations, and ensure the school’s policies are implemented.
Requirements and Expectations
* Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or working towards it.
* GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
* Current driving licence.
* Experience working with children or young people with emotional, behavioural, or social communication difficulties.
* Previous teaching assistant or teaching experience.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.
* Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues in a supportive manner.
* Computer literacy.
* Understanding the needs of children and young people with emotional, behavioural, social, and communication difficulties.

* Motivation to work with children and young people.
* Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
* Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours.
* Positive attitude to the use of authority and maintaining discipline.
