About the role
As a General Labourer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of daily construction activities at our Wallyford site in East Lothian. You will assist with various tasks, ensuring that the site is safe, clean, and well-maintained.
Key roles and responsibilities include
* Assist in the preparation and organisation of construction sites, including maintenance of site boundaries, setting out barriers for clear segregation of pedestrians and plant/vehicles.
* Perform manual and physical tasks such as lifting and carrying construction materials, operating basic hand tools, and cleaning communal areas, including welfare facilities, canteen area, etc.
* Support the construction team by loading and unloading materials, distributing them to the appropriate locations, and maintaining inventory.
* Clean and maintain the construction site, ensuring that it is free from debris, hazards, and other potential safety risks.
* Ensure all waste from the site is disposed of safely and in line with environmental and safety commitments including; adhering to waste segregation requirements, limiting waste production on site, supporting effective management of materials and making the Site Manager/Project Manager aware of any over delivery of materials.
* Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent accidents and injuries.
* Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of construction projects.
* Assist tradespeople and contractors as required, providing support and performing tasks under their supervision.
* Report any issues, concerns, or incidents to the Site Manager or Project Manager promptly.
* Adhere to all relevant company policies, procedures, and regulations.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and guidelines at all times.

Your Skills and Experience
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Labourer from within the construction and housebuilding industry.
The ideal candidate will be/have;
* Experience in a similar role and industry would be advantageous.
* Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks in a physically demanding environment.
* Able to work under your own initiative and as part of the site team, including following instructions from the Site Manager.
* Good time and attendance.
* Able and willing to work from a task list.
* Basic knowledge of construction materials and equipment.
* Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety requirements in the workplace and the ability to adhere to these.
* Good communication skills, including a working level of English language skills, and the ability to effectively interact with colleagues and supervisors.
* CSCS card – essential
* First Aid qualification – desirable
* Clean UK driving licence – desirable
* Vehicle Marshal - desirable
* Manual Handling certificate – desirable
* Fire awareness training – desirable
