Critical Care Outreach Sister/Charge Nurse (XR06)

Anexciting opportunity has arisen to join the Leeds Childrens Hospital acutepaediatric outreach nurse team .

Weare a Critical Care Outreach team that play a vital role in assisting the LCHstaff with acutely unwell and deteriorating patients. We provide clinical advice, education andsupport to ward based multi-disciplinary teams throughout all paediatricclinical areas throughout the trust.

Thisis a fantastic opportunity for an experienced nurse to further develop theirclinical assessment skills and decision making and to work collaborativelywith the MDT to ensure the timely escalation of deteriorating children acrossall specialities within Leeds Childrens Hospital.

Postholder must have EPLS and be willing to partake in additional trainingrequired for the role.

Main duties of the job

Thepost holder will provide comprehensive assessment and care of thedeteriorating/acutely ill child, leading to early intervention and treatment.The post holder will work in partnership with the medical and nursing teamsto initiate appropriate care to prevent further physiological deteriorationand identify and refer those patients who require ICU/HDU admission. They will attend all medical emergencycalls within the Leeds Childrens Hospital and Emergency Department.

Job responsibilities

Thepost holder will be an experienced qualified paediatric nurse who will play an essential role inassisting the Childrens hospitalOutreach Team to provide extensive clinical advice, education andsupport to ward based multi-disciplinary teams across a number of clinicalareas throughout the trust.

Thepost holder will provide comprehensive assessment and care of thedeteriorating/acutely ill child, leading to early intervention andtreatment. The post holder will work in partnership with theMulti-disciplinary Team to initiate appropriate care to prevent furtherphysiological deterioration and identify and refer those patients who requirePICU/HDU admission.

Thepost holder will support the Resuscitation Officers in the education andtraining for all clinical and non-clinical staff employed by the Trust acrossall adult areas.

Thepost holder will also support Outreach within the ward environment and thoseareas caring for critically ill children.


Person Specification


Experience

* Significant critical care at sister/charge nurse or equivalent outreach experience.
* In depth knowledge & clinical competence in the care of the critically ill.
* Insight into current issues in nursing/ professional issues
* Knowledge of Standards of Practice.


Skills and Behaviours

* Professional and patient focused with a strong commitment to providing high quality care.
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Flexible adaptable and capable of lateral thinking. Well-developed assertiveness skills.
* Ability to motivate others.
* Advanced oral and written communication skills.

* Able to apply NMC guidance for documentation and record keeping

* Current issues in healthcare


Other Criteria

* Excellent written and verbal skills

* IT Skills
* Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post.


Qualifications

* Registered Childrens Nurse
* Formal teaching qualification
* First degree and/or Higher Academic Study (Masters Degree)
