Offer description

Role Purpose Join the team changing young lives across South Yorkshire! Roundabout, South Yorkshire’s youth homelessness charity, is on the lookout for a motivated, creative and people-focused Fundraising Officer to join our vibrant team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a fun, fast-paced and purpose-driven environment, supporting a team of six passionate fundraisers across everything from events and community fundraising to individual giving, corporate partnerships and grants. No two days are ever the same, from finding Christmas trees to creating boxing and D-Jing sessions for our young people. You’ll be the go-to person for keeping our supporter database running smoothly, making sure our records are accurate and up to date. You’ll also be the friendly contact for anyone who wants to donate items that benefit our young people — helping to turn generosity into real impact. With a natural flair for organisation and a big heart for supporter care, you’ll make sure every donation, from regular to individual gets a heartfelt thank you, helping our supporters feel the difference they’re making. And when it’s time to step away from the desk, you’ll play a hands-on role at our brilliant fundraising events — bringing energy, creativity and a smile as we raise vital funds to end youth homelessness. (There’ll be evening or weekend events, and we always have lots of fun). If you’re someone who loves variety, enjoys teamwork, and is excited by the idea of using your skills to make a lasting difference, then this could be the perfect role for you. Bring your enthusiasm, ideas and organisational flair — and help us change lives at Roundabout. Key accountabilities As our Fundraising Officer, you’ll be right at the heart of the action — the friendly first point of contact for anyone reaching out to support Roundabout through donations, volunteering or fundraising. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our fundraising operations running smoothly while learning the ropes across all areas of fundraising and supporter engagement. Here’s what your days might look like: • Keep our supporter admin in order: Manage our supporter database (E-Tapestry) like a pro — keeping records accurate, creating useful reports, and helping us understand the difference our supporters make. • Champion donor generosity: Collect and manage Gift Aid information securely, ensuring every penny of support goes as far as it can. • Deliver brilliant supporter care: Be a friendly, professional point of contact for our amazing supporters —whether by phone, email or in person. • Celebrate every gift: Process donations and send heartfelt thank-yous that make our supporters feel truly valued. • Connect kindness with impact: Coordinate offers of activities for our young people — like theatre tickets or special experiences — making sure donors feel appreciated and their gifts make a real difference. • Match donations where they’re needed most: Manage staff requests for donated items and make sure they reach the right place. • Keep us stocked and ready: Check and order fundraising materials so our team is always event-ready. • Build relationships that last: Help nurture long-term connections with supporters, turning one-time donors into lifelong advocates. • Get stuck in at events: Support the planning and smooth running of exciting fundraising events — from golf days to abseils — bringing your energy and teamwork (and sometimes working outside normal hours). You will be there on the day for hands on support at events and community activities! • Inspire community heroes: Work alongside our Community & Events Fundraisers to motivate and guide supporters, helping them set up pages, share ideas and make their fundraising shine. • Be an all-round team player: Jump in to help with day-to-day fundraising tasks, research best practice and bring fresh ideas to the table. • Stay ahead of the game: Keep up with the latest fundraising trends and creative approaches to boost our success. • Dream up new possibilities: Contribute ideas and campaigns to grow Roundabout’s fundraising potential and reach even more young people in need. Person Specification Specific Knowledge, Experience and Skills • Minimum GCSE Grade C in English and Maths (or equivalent) • Ability to manage both proactive and reactive work, managing concurrent projects and prioritising and working to tight deadlines • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, with an engaging writing style to help produce grants and thank you letters • Understanding of confidentiality and GDPR • Experience with using fundraising platforms (eg. JustGiving), able to create fundraising pages and give tips and advice • Experience in using Windows-based software packages such as Excel and CRM Systems with experience of analysing spreadsheets • An understanding of gift aid and fundraising methods • Experience of working inclusively with diverse populations, communities, and individuals • Hold a full driving licence with business insurance and have access to own transport • Experience in an administration role
