Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Classroom SEN Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Newport. This forward‑thinking provision supports children and young people aged 4-19 with Autism and associated learning difficulties. Spread across three sites in Newport, the school offers an exceptional learning environment with facilities such as independent living skills areas, a Rebound Therapy room, Soft Play and Sensory Rooms, Forest School spaces, and thoughtfully designed classrooms.
With small class sizes and a high level of staff support, you'll be able to provide focused, individualised assistance that helps pupils access learning, build independence, and reach their full potential. This role offers the chance to make a genuine, daily impact on the lives of students who need it most.
Flexibility and resilience are key-you may work across different classrooms, age groups, and support needs throughout the week. Adapting your approach to ensure each learner receives tailored support will be central to your role.

What We're Looking For
* Resilient, patient, and understanding attitude
* Experience supporting children or individuals with SEN and challenging behaviours
* Ability to deliver consistent 1:1 and small group support
* Someone who thrives in a flexible, fast‑paced SEN setting, adapting quickly to new challenges
* Skills in managing and de‑escalating behaviour effectively
* Commitment to boosting pupil engagement and emotional development
* Dedication to creating an inclusive learning environment
✅ Requirements (or willingness to obtain at your own cost)
* Must be 18 or over
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
* An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
* Level 2 Safeguarding training
* At least two professional references covering 24 months of employment
