Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist - Learning Disability

The Youth First service is contracted to offer forensic advice and consultation to professional networks. In addition, we are commissioned to undertake assessment of risk where there is an identified need.
The service is committed to providing forensic advice and support through a variety of means, to all professionals across the West Midlands. Forensic advice should be easy to access, timely and be provided by experienced senior clinicians, in a professional and clinically informed manner.
As a Band 7 clinician you would be responsible for providing advice and consultation to professional networks for young people presenting with complex risk presentations and diagnoses of mental health, neurodiversity and/or learning disability.
Please note this role is primarily non-patient facing.
Main duties of the job
* Lead on the Learning Disability/Autism Pathway (LDA) within Youth First.
* Take a lead on clinical matters and policy development relating to the Youth First practice area, particularly the LDA Pathway.
* Provide clinical leadership as required and provide cover for the Service Manager as required.
* Take a lead on audits within the team
* Participate in recruitment and selection process of staff.
* Will be aware of and implement Trust policies
* Will manage a defined caseload and provide consultation to professionals around specific caseload
* Will be responsible for ensuring effective communication pathways exist between the service and external partners
* Will be responsible for ensuring the promotion of equality diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.
* Be compliant with local safeguarding procedures and promote good safeguarding practice across the team.
* Be compliant with infection control polices and promote good infection control practice across the team.
* Will be responsible for identifying and contributing to the training needs necessary in providing quality evidence based care as appropriate.

Person Specification
Learning Disability Nurse
* at least 5 years experience with experience of senior nursing roles
* Extensive experience working with complex/forensic CAMHS presentations/challenging behaviours
