We are looking for an Operations & Safety Specialist to work across our Intelligent Infrastructure discipline, delivering operational safety commissions in sectors such as roads, rail, energy and active travel. The role will involve working with senior experts, collaborating across WSP and providing technical support for safety risk assessments, operating procedures, policy and major projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Working with clients to provide expert advice that supports their objectives.
* Collaboratively working with other specialists across WSP to provide subject‑matter expertise in safety risk assessments, operating procedures, policy and major projects.
* Presenting findings and recommendations to client forums and industry stakeholders.
* Engaging with stakeholders who have relevant insight to specific topics (e.g. emergency services, operational staff, highway authorities and breakdown recovery operators).
* Undertaking lead responsibilities for technical packages of work in terms of time, cost and quality, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout delivery.
* Supporting the growth of the Operational Safety capability, driving delivery and business sustainability, with a particular focus on supporting early‑career professionals.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* Experience preparing and/or reviewing safety risk assessments, particularly in the transport domain.
* A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. civil engineering, transport studies, geography, psychology, arts) or a technician with BTEC, HNC/HND and an appropriate level of experience.
* A passion for working towards systematic safety integration (e.g. the safe system approach and Vision Zero).
* Proven track record in a consultancy role or demonstrable aptitude and skills to provide excellent consultancy support.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to undertake qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
* Conscientious, detail‑oriented and able to work with independent initiative.
* Excellent stakeholder relationships and collaboration skills.
* Experience contributing to or developing client proposals.
