Overview
Job Title: Night Time Care Assistant- 7pm-7am
Reports to: The Manager or person in charge. Working under the supervision of a senior care worker at all times.
Responsibilities
1. To provide wakeful night duty cover in the Home.
2. To look after the Health and Safety of the residents in the Care Home.
3. To undertake domestic duties which can be performed during the night.
4. Carry out regular checks on residents at regular intervals with due regard for residents privacy.
5. Carry out regular checks on the building with regard to fire prevention.
6. To maintain security of Home i.e. checking doors, windows and outside gates are all locked at night.
7. Answer call bells, assess the situations contact manager or deputy regarding any issues.
8. Assist residents in the morning with washing, dressing, mobilising and dealing with incontinence correctly as detailed in the person care plan.
9. Assist during the night in taking residents to the toilet in order to minimise incontinence.
10. Read and write residents’ care plans and notes of all care provided. To ensure care plans are evaluated monthly.
11. In the time available between attending residents, undertake domestic duties i.e. laundry/ironing of residents’ clothing, mending clothing, table laying and setting for breakfast, cleaning, dusting as directed.
12. To attend training activities, which are usually held in the daytime hours.
13. To maintain residents’ confidentiality.
14. To assist with training of new member of staff and other trainees and voluntary workers.
15. To promote clients’ rights, choice, dignity and independence at all times.
16. There is a 12 week induction period for all staff. Staff will be trained in the following areas so they have the correct skills and knowledge to provide excellent care. Induction training will include Health and Safety, First Aid, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, Infection Control, Equality and Diversity, Mental Capacity Act, Dementia Training, Vulnerable adults at risk training, End of Life training.
17. To ensure that Equality and Diversity is practised within in the care home by all who live, work and visit the care home. Any issues to be promptly reported to the Manager/Deputy.
