Calderdale Youth Justice Service undertakes assessments and interventions with children and young people aged years of age who have committed a criminal offence, or they are at risk of offending.

The service's priority is to prevent offending and further offending by addressing the criminogenic factors and support young people's skills and strengths to become valued members of the community. The case managers supervise young people subject to community and custodial sentences and provide preventative interventions for young people at risk of offending.

The post holder will be responsible for providing high-quality restorative interventions within the Youth Justice Service. In addition, they will represent the youth justice service within the local community including schools, residential homes and other external agencies to promote the work and principles of restorative justice/practice. This may also include designing and delivering of training to staff, volunteers, schools, and residential homes.

The post holder will work alongside the victim Restorative Worker to engage with victims and assess the suitability of restorative justice outcomes.

A key element of the role is the facilitation of Referral Order Panels.

A relevant professional qualification in Social Work, Youth Justice, Probation, Teaching Educational Welfare as well as a Restorative Justice Qualification Level 1-3 or a willingness to work towards within 2 years is required for this post.

Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
