Deputy Headteacher – Secondary School We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Headteacher to join the Senior Leadership Team of a thriving secondary school. This is a pivotal role, supporting the Headteacher in leading the school, driving improvement, and ensuring the best outcomes for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
Deputise for the Headteacher and take responsibility for the school in their absence
Lead whole-school priorities such as Behaviour & Attitudes, Quality of Education, Curriculum, Inclusion, or Data & Outcomes
Support and line-manage middle leaders and teaching staff
Monitor student progress, implement strategies to raise attainment, and maintain high standards
Ensure safeguarding, wellbeing, and behaviour policies are consistently applied
Contribute to strategic planning, school improvement initiatives, and Ofsted readiness Essential Experience & Skills:
Proven experience in secondary school leadership, ideally as an Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Head, or SLT member
Strong understanding of curriculum, teaching and learning, and behaviour management
Ability to lead staff, inspire students, and make data-driven decisions
Experience with school improvement planning, inspections, and accountability frameworks
