The AP Technology Deployment group is seeking an Engineer II for the support of exciting business opportunities. This engineer will be part of our AP300 Project Engineering team and engage on a vast set of nuclear power plant design topics (with a focus on New Plants Licensing activities and projects), in support to Westinghouse international new build market development and capture. In your role, at first, you will lead and coordinate the regulatory interface during UK GDA process.
As a project engineer, you will be the technical link between the regulators, the project manager, our design teams and Westinghouse global engineering. This role provides a solid development and growth opportunity for those seeking to develop as a technical leader or business leader, as support will go beyond one specific discipline, and provides an opportunity of development of network within Westinghouse.
What your day-to-day activities look like:
Assess incoming UK regulators (ONR and EA) requests, develop response plan: Compile existing technical design information across various technical areas into reports
Write/review a technical description, using support from appropriate experts
Integrate customer requirements and collaborate with a technology team for the development of a technical concept
Lead the interaction with our customers (regulators), presenting our technical solutions and leading the technical interactions with the relevant stakeholders
Develop and maintain cognizance of Westinghouse technical products through trainings and by interfacing with experts
Drive the delivery of engineering commitments on time and with the appropriate quality
Coordinate our global designers/engineers teams through tool development activities and calculations/studies
Reconcile technical questions with design/engineering teams
Coordinate and resolve design changes and additions
What we need to see from you:
Master’s Degree in Engineering
Nuclear safety and customer focus outlook
Ideally previous experience in a UK GDA
Effective oral and written communication
Ability to establish effective networks across various functional areas
Effective coordination skills to manage the integration of technical inputs from various sources to meet customer expectations and relay comments to the various contributors
Previous experience in development ALARP/BAT cases is a plus
