Modern Matron

We are seeking an experienced leader with a background in managing diverse teams at a senior level to join our leadership group. The Modern Matron position is available to support Oak 1 and Oak 3 Adult Inpatient Wards based at the Cavell Centre in Care Group 2.

The role involves overseeing safe, high-quality care, governance, and performance to improve service user experience across the wards, as well as supporting our new inpatient clinical model to enhance service flow.

This band 8a portfolio contributes to shaping, developing, and maintaining the mental health acute care pathway, aiming to ensure safe and effective clinical interventions and strengthen the integration between Crisis, Community, and Inpatient services.


Main duties of the job

To lead and manage the acute adult mental health across the inpatient & associated teams in Care Group 2 delivering safe and effective high-quality services, within the available resources to achieve the team targets.

The post holder will provide leadership and expertise to deliver services within an agreed service model, working with service users and carers, and other stakeholders, maintaining effective working relationships.

The post holder will work to establish effective multi-disciplinary working within and across the wider acute services.

Job responsibilities

1. To provide the highest quality service within the resources allocated.

9. To maintain the team performance management framework, taking appropriate actions, and ensuring that there is clear communication of the team functions, standards and targets.
10. To ensure that the teams maintain clinical and care records in line with the Trust policies and procedures.


Person Specification


Education/Qualifications

* Degree or equivalent experience
* Senior Leadership experience/qualifications
* Professional registration NMC, AMHP, HPCP
* Experience in managing Adult Mental Health Inpatient wards.


Experience

* In depth experience as a senior professional or manager
* Evidence of successful working within multidisciplinary teams
* Evidence of managing workload and ability to prioritise
* Evidence of clinical supervision training and/or experience
* Experience of operational management of multiple teams
* Experience in working in or managing mental health services
* Experience of working with wider stakeholder groups
* Lived experience of mental health
* Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision
* Good understanding of Care Programme Approach / Care Management.
* Evidence of leadership ability, able to influence, involve and develop individuals and teams. ng of performance information
* Decision making and problem-solving skills.
* Experience of managing feedback, investigation of complaints or similar


Abilities

* Ability to use performance management information and demonstrate understanding of performance information.
* Knowledge of policy and legislation relating to mental health and social care services.
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to foster good inter- team/interagency working relationships.oGood interpersonal skills and the ability to foster good inter- team/interagency working relationships.
* Able to demonstrate initiative and be proactive.
* Approachable, flexible and reliable.
