Description Job Title: Sustainability Assistant, ZDHC- Full time & Part-time available Location : Head Office, Leicestershire Salary: Competitive plus bonus & benefits Job Summary: As a Sustainability Assistant at NEXT, you will play a crucial role in supporting our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility. You will be instrumental in managing, maintaining, and developing key supplier sustainability programmes, specifically the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Programme and the Worldly Programme, on behalf of NEXT and its supply base. Key Responsibilities: ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) Programme Manage the day-to-day running of the ZDHC Programme with support from the line manager. Expand and implement the NEXT Textiles ZDHC programme to include leather tanneries and synthetic leather manufacturers. Liaise internally with NEXT technology teams and externally with wet processors across the NEXT supply chain to support ZDHC implementation. Manage data uploads and analysis of data from the ZDHC Gateway. Maintain and develop the ZDHC programme across NEXT's supply base. Develop remediation plans for sites which require further support Worldly Programme Manage the day-to-day running of the Worldly Programme with support from the line manager. Liaise internally with NEXT technology teams and externally with the T1-T3 manufacturers across the NEXT supply chain to support Worldly implementation. Manage data uploads and analysis of data from the ZDHC Gateway Maintain and develop the Worldly programme across NEXT's supply base through internal engagement General Sustainability Responsibilities: Manage, maintain, and develop the ZDHC and Worldly supplier programmes on behalf of NEXT and its supply base. Research and disseminate information on a diverse range of raw materials found in NEXT products. Support the wider sustainability team on various initiatives as required. Essential Criteria: Study or training in textile technology, leather or footwear technology, or environmental management/sciences or sustainability to a minimum of degree level (or equivalent experience), including knowledge of the textile and/or leather and/or footwear industries and the environmental impacts of the fashion industry. Ability to research and disseminate information on a diverse range of raw materials found in NEXT products. Highly IT literate – excellent written and numeracy skills, good Excel/Google Sheets skills. Attention to detail and accuracy skills. Ability to perform a range of tasks at any one time and work to strict deadlines. Inquisitive and confident / enjoys researching and summarising information on unknown subjects. High level of interest in environmental and sustainability issues. Desirable Criteria: Experience within a textile / leather / footwear technical function within retail or related industry. Some chemical-related knowledge or understanding, or the desire to widen knowledge in this area. Commercially aware with a good understanding of the textile / leather / footwear industry. Experience of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero programme. Experience of the Worldly programme. Experience of textile or leather testing within a testing laboratory. Experience of writing and presenting training materials. Ability to travel internationally (when permitted). LI-DC1
