Working within the Lonham Group Ltd as a Senior Underwriter for Marine Cargo and Freight Liability business.
This role offers flexibility in location within the UK, as we manage a countrywide book of business. We welcome applications from candidates based in any region.
Main duties
* Develop existing broker relations to maintain and expand current book of business
* Generate new business opportunities in line with Lonham growth strategy
* Gain knowledge of and articulate Lonham client proposition
* Underwriting, reviewing new and renewal risks, taking into account type of risk, nature of cargo, limits, voyages, stock locations, turnover. rating guidelines and claims experience.
* Production and distribution of policy documentation.
* Input and maintain accurate records within the Underwriting and Accounts systems and capture relevant data to allow for the successful monitoring and analysis of risks written.
* Monitor risks written that are due for renewal.
* Prepare reports and statistical information as required by the Underwriters.
* Liaise with brokers and policy holders to obtain information to provide a quote and produce insurance documentation. Chase for outstanding premium/adjustments/declarations.
* Raise invoices/credits as required in relation to the policy wording.
* Liaise with other departments in Lonham and Chaucer as required.
* Liaise with brokers and clients to develop good working relationships.
* Attend training sessions and other meetings, as and when required
Regulatory responsibilities
* Sanction checking of all new and existing customers.
* Adhere to FCA rules regarding the handling of insurance premiums.
* Issue policy documentation within industry deadlines.
* Ensure that customer complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred where appropriate.
* Ensure that the principles of Treating Customers Fairly are upheld by Agents and Service Providers.
* Ensure that all policies are written within Chaucer/Lloyds guidelines.
Our requirements
Relevant experience
Essential
A solid track-record in underwriting with good knowledge of Cargo and Freight Liability insurance with aptitude for developing strong client relationships.
Technical skills

Microsoft Office Windows
Word (or equivalent)
Excel (or equivalent)
Education & Experience
Essential
5 GCSE passes (minimum Grade C or new grade 5), including Maths and English
Desirable
A.C.I.I. qualified or part-qualified
Experience with using AI technology e.g. co-pilot or similar
