Barnet Children’s Integrated Therapies have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and self-motivated Occupational Therapist, experienced in interdisciplinary working with children and young people in the community. OTs in Barnet work as part of a dynamic Integrated Therapy Team including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants, and OTs.
The post involves working with children and young people aged 0-19 years in settings such as special and mainstream schools and clinics, with needs ranging from mild to complex. Your role will include assessment, advice, and treatment in 1:1, group, or MDT settings.
This role emphasizes building relationships with schools and developing training to support parents and schools through universal and targeted support.
This is a fixed-term position within the Children’s Integrated Therapies (CIT) Team, providing innovative services to children and families in Barnet.
Flexible working arrangements, including mobile technology and adaptable hours, are available.
Main duties of the job
Note: A strong Band 5 working towards Band 6 will be considered for development. Alternative hours and patterns are also considered.
* Collaborate with families, education staff, and community partners to support children's occupational therapy needs, including upskilling others through advice, education, and practical support.
* Provide a high-quality universal occupational therapy service for schools and parents, identifying gaps and developing a standard offer for all schools.
* Develop training packages for school staff to enhance their understanding and enable environmental and activity modifications for participation.
* Plan and deliver parent/carer training through group sessions, drop-ins, and coaching to support home strategies.
* Carry out and document assessments using standardized and non-standardized tools for children with diverse needs.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent literacy and numeracy
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
* Clinical Educator training
* Masters modules or equivalent in specialty
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
* Advanced knowledge of rehabilitation evidence base
* Excellent therapy assessment and treatment skills
* Ability to manage own and others' caseloads independently
* Effective communication with all disciplines
* Clear reporting skills
* Good presentation skills for complex information
