This role is crucial in the design and management of bridge-related works, including assessments, feasibility studies, and refurbishments.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the collection, assessment, and dissemination of essential information for successful scheme preparation and implementation.
Prepare or assist in preparing technical design and contract documents to ensure project execution within published programmes and budget estimates.
Liaise with contractors, public utilities, and other relevant bodies to incorporate design duties and programmes as required.
Maintain a focus on Health and Safety for self and others at all times.
Encourage and influence others on sustainability and equality of opportunities policies and practices.
Prepare and manage bridge design projects and improvements.
Job Requirements:
Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers.
RQF Level 4-7 qualification in a relevant engineering field.
Specific working knowledge in the design and construction of bridges and other highway structures.
Experience with British Standards, DMRB Standards, and Eurocodes.
Proficiency in Finite Element and Grillage software packages (e.g., LUSAS, ENCAD).
Experience in undertaking bridge inspections in accordance with the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures.
Ability to supervise the design work of other team members.
Understanding of duties under CDM 2015 Regulations.
Driving licence required (category B) and ability to fulfil travel requirements.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid working arrangement (home and office-based).
Infrequent visits to live sites.
Communicating with stakeholders in a challenging environment.
