Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Milling & Turning Operator to join an established precision engineering manufacturer in East Lancashire. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity, starting on a day shift, with the potential to move onto rotating or fixed shift work in the future. This role would suit a reliable, hands‑on machinist with experience in setting and operating CNC machines in a precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Set and operate CNC milling and turning machines
* Load and edit programs where required (training provided if needed)
* Work from engineering drawings and job cards
* Carry out quality checks using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges)
* Maintain machine tooling and ensure correct offsets are applied
* Complete jobs to required tolerances and production times
* Follow all health & safety and quality procedures
* Keep the work area clean and organised
* Support continuous improvement within the machining department
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience as a CNC Milling and/or Turning Operator
* Experience setting and operating CNC machines
* Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
* Familiar with quality inspection and measuring tools
* Experience working to tight tolerances
* Knowledge of common CNC controls (such as FANUC, MAZAK, Heidenhain or similar) - preferred but not essential
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
* Good timekeeping and a strong work ethic
Shift & Contract Details
* Initial shift: Day shift
* Future flexibility: Willingness to move to shift work if required
* Contract: Temporary to permanent for the right candidate
* Overtime: May be available depending on workload
