Job Summary
AIM: As part of the care team.
To support the Manager/deputy manager in all aspects of the homes' management.
By taking temporary charge during the absence of the manager/ deputy manager.
To aid in the training of care assistants in all aspects of their work, and formulating supervision and appraisals.
OBJECTIVES
TO IMPLEMENT THE CARE PLAN FOR INDIVIDUAL RESIDENTS WHOM THEY ARE THE KEY WORKER.
By being involved in the regular assessment of the resident and production of the care plan.
By providing the care services as agreed with the resident.
By enabling the residents to maintain physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs.
TO PROVIDE AN INDIVIDUAL CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICE FOR RESIDENTS.
By administering all medication
By assisting residents with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting.
By helping residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities and help in the use and care of personal equipment.
By helping in the promotion of mental and physical activity.
By assisting residents at meal times if required.
By helping residents to remain independent for as long as possible.
TO SUPPORT THE RELATIVES AND FRIENDS OF RESIDENTS
By welcoming them and making them feel part of the home.
By answering questions and talking to them about their relative/friend.
By helping them through emotional crises such as bereavement.
TO HELP CREATE AN ATMOSPHERE WITHIN WHICH RESIDENTS CAN EXERCISE THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF CHOICE AND DIRECTION OVER THEIR LIVES AND ACTIVITIES.
By working to the Ashwood's philosophy of care.
By ensuring that the home feels as little like an institution as possible.
By immediately responding to visitors and queries.
By helping with outings and events.
TO BE PART OF THE CARE TEAM
By ensuring that all care staff and domestic staff contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and creating the right atmosphere.
By providing sleep-in cover when necessary.
By taking part in staff meetings and also in training activities as directed.
TO WRITE UP RECORDS, REPORTS AND OTHER INFORMATION REQUIRED.
Fully and promptly.
In such a way that all relevant information is available to other staff.
TO ASSIST WITH OTHER TASKS AS DIRECTED.
By covering for the duties of other staff. (e.g. simple catering / cleaning) through absence or in an emergency if required.
Job Type / Category
Senior Care Assistant required 20 hours per week over 7 day period may include night shifts, will include every other weekend
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care required but with a willingness to attain Level 3. Must have 1 year experience as a senior carer.
