Job Summary
The Laboratory Medicine department currently has a vacancy for two laboratory assistants. We are looking for a friendly and cheerful person, who is practical and has an interest in science. The role involves various duties in the Specimen Reception area of the Blood Sciences laboratory and may include rostered duties in specialist areas such as the Point of Care Testing Team. The role is full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, and after training will include participation in a shift system with weekend and bank holiday rotas. The post‑holder will receive training, work as part of a support team and must maintain competency in all relevant laboratory areas. Previous medical laboratory experience is desirable but full training will be provided. The successful candidate will be literate, numerate and have excellent keyboard skills.
Main duties of the job
The MLA team assists the medical and scientific staff in the general running of the department by performing a range of basic laboratory functions and data input to help deliver a service that enables high‑standards of patient care.
