Lancashire Cricket Sports Science and Medicine Team are seeking applications from Strength & Conditioning Coaches to join our team. You will help to physically prepare the players for the increasing demands of elite Women’s Cricket, aiming to minimise the impact of injury and illness, whilst maximising performance.
Responsibilities
* SCOPE OF THE ROLE:
* To deliver outstanding strength and conditioning support to the Women’s Academy U18 and EPP squads.
* To optimise the physical preparation of the Women’s Academy U18 and EPP squads in line with the growing demands of the game.
* Maximise performance, minimise the risk of injury and set physical benchmarks for all cricketers as identified by Lancashire and the England & Wales Cricket Board.
* To be a key member of the Lancashire Cricket Sports Science & Medicine Team, contributing to the development of the service at all levels, in association with the Director of Medical Services and Director of Women’s Cricket.
* Learn and develop both personally and professionally from a multidisciplinary team of practitioners with vast experience across a variety of sports and settings.
* KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Alongside the Lead Women’s Strength & Conditioning Coach, lead the physical preparation and Long-Term Athlete Development strategies for the Women’s Academy, U18 and EPP players in line with the Science & Medicine Team’s values.
* Lead Match Day Strength & Conditioning support for Women’s 2nd XI, Academy, U18 and EPP Squads.
* Collect, analyse, interpret, and appropriately share physical profiling data in line with Lancashire and England & Wales Cricket Board protocols. Use this data to inform player’s physical Individual Development Plan’s.
* Collect, analyse, interpret, and appropriately share training workload data (including GPS) for Women’s Academy, U18 and EPP players.
* To implement recovery sessions for Women’s Academy, U18 and EPP players in line with the Science & Medicine Team’s values.
* Maintain a comprehensive database of work conducted with each individual athlete, fully complying with and contributing to the development of our sports science, strength and conditioning support structure through detailed monitoring and reporting processes.
* To support and liaise with the Lead Women’s Strength & Conditioning Coach in the physical preparation of the Women’s Professional players.
* Collaborate closely with the physiotherapists on physical preparation and rehabilitation of Women’s Academy, U18 and EPP players and seek support, when appropriate, from the wider MDT including Doctor, Dietitian and Sports Psychologists.
* Attend and contribute to regular multidisciplinary meetings to drive the development of Lancashire Women’s Cricket.
* Undertake appropriate CPD to keep abreast of world’s best practice and current evidence-based research. Actively contribute to Lancashire Cricket’s Sports Science and Medicine Team’s CPD programme
* Work collaboratively with England & Wales Cricket Board staff to co-manage international pathway players.
* To support local and England & Wales Cricket Board led clinical/performance/research projects.
Qualifications
Essential
* Undergraduate Sports Science/Strength & Conditioning degree.
* Desire to work within a high-performance sporting environment and drive the physical development of young athletes.
* UKSCA accreditation or equivalent or be able to gain accreditation in first 6 months of employment (support will be provided to assist with this).
* Minimum 1 year experience of working within professional team sport in a sport science related role.
* Exceptional communication skills ensuring information is reported promptly to the Lead Women’s Strength & Conditioning Coach, and the wider Sport Science & Medicine team as required.
* Current professional indemnity insurance cover.
* Up to date first aid qualification
* Full Driving Licence and access to own vehicle.
* Computer literate in Microsoft office, word, excel.
* The nature of the role necessitates the need to work some evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Desirable
* A postgraduate qualification specialising in a Sport Science related discipline.
* ISAK level 1 Accreditation.
* Experience of GPS software within team sports.
* Experience working in cricket or an understanding of the fundamentals of the game of cricket.
* Experience working with female athletes.
