As a Water Treatment Scientist, you’ll act as a key member of the Water Treatment Process team, providing day‑to‑day technical advice to our largest and most critical surface water treatment works. You’ll be responsible for overseeing process issues at your works, monitoring performance through trend reviews, and ensuring we continue to supply the right quality of water to our customers.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality; diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us learn and better serve our customers and the communities where they live.

Key Responsibilities

* Review performance of Water Treatment Works, participate in water quality improvement initiatives, and identify and support operational efficiencies (chemical, energy).
* Define the future of our water treatment works by collaborating with Process Design Engineers to support new capital projects that enhance performance and reduce risk.
* Lead investigations into water quality issues and failures at Surface Water Works, identify root causes, develop mitigating actions, and produce key reports and recommendations.
* Support the identification and reduction of water quality risks by completing the water treatment element of Drinking Water Safety Plan audits, subsequent actions, and by identifying capital and operational investment needs to improve performance.

* Excellent technical knowledge of water treatment processes and issues.
* Strong communication and influencing skills, able to engage stakeholders at various levels, both internally and externally.
* Ability to prioritise, plan and deliver outputs on strict timescales.
* Comprehensive IT skills across Word, Excel, SAP, Cognos, QUIS, ESCADA, and ability to interpret trends and understand consequences.
* Recent experience of commissioning, plant optimisation and providing process support.
* Positive attitude, caring manner and a strong character; diverse individuals are encouraged.

* 28 days holiday + bank holidays (plus the option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year).
* Annual bonus scheme up to £2,250 per annum based on company performance.
* Car allowance up to £4,800 per annum.
