Overview
We are seeking four experienced Research Infrastructure Engineers to join the Research Computing team at Bath. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising the University's High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise to solve complex problems, provide user support, and ensure secure and efficient service delivery across HPC environments.
Responsibilities
* Analyse and improve existing systems for security and performance.
* Manage system changes in line with defined standards and procedures.
* Design, script, code, test, and document software deployment.
* Provide technical support to Research Computing users (debugging, optimisation, knowledge transfer).
* Act as a trusted advisor between IT and university stakeholders.
* Develop and evaluate implementation plans for complex system changes.
Qualifications
* Strong IT project and change management experience in large organisations.
* Expertise in Linux server administration (with working knowledge of Windows).
* Hands-on experience with HPC technologies (provisioning, job schedulers, interconnects).
* Proficiency with HPC job schedulers (e.g., SLURM) and EasyBuild for HPC application installations.
* Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, SQL).
* Experience with cloud services (Microsoft Azure).
* Solid understanding of parallel programming methodologies.
* Experience in designing and delivering technical training (GitHub IO preferred).
