Aneurin Bevan University Health Board supports flexible working.

There is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top-up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour (£24,638 per annum). This will be in place until the 2025/26 pay uplift is confirmed.

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Patient Pathway Co-ordinator in the Ophthalmology Service, delivering change across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

We are looking for an organized, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with strong team leadership skills. The post holder will play a key role in delivering transformation plans for the Ophthalmology Service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally encouraged to apply.

This role is fixed-term until 31 March 2026.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide administrative support within the Ophthalmology service, managing inpatient waiting lists, overseeing inpatient scheduling, supporting the management team and clinicians to improve service delivery, reduce waiting times, and ensure capacity is well utilized. Responsibilities include managing staff within the Referral and Booking Centre, overseeing waiting lists, Partial Booking Systems, RTT targets, and clinic utilization, and working closely with Directorate Managers and clinicians to ensure policy compliance and support staff and managers as needed.

Qualifications

Essential: Educated to Diploma level or equivalent knowledge and experience.

Desirable: ECDL qualification or similar computer skills.


Experience

Essential: Ability to work and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and with patients empathetically.


Skills

Essential: NHS experience with ORMIS, RTT, or similar administrative competence; ability to support operational requirements.

Desirable: Active engagement in learning activities, understanding of NHS initiatives, Welsh language skills (levels 1-5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing).


Other

Essential: Acts in accordance with legislation, policies, and procedures; supports health, safety, and security; assesses risks.

Desirable: Knowledge of NHS initiatives like patient choice and ORMIS, and ability to respond positively to them.
