2 - 3 Month Contract with a local Authority
Job Purpose
* We are seeking a committed and experienced Senior Social Worker to support Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) aged 16 and over, primarily placed in the West Midlands and residing in the Shropshire area. This role involves trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, and building trusting relationships with vulnerable young people who have experienced significant adversity.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
* Manage complex cases involving unaccompanied asylum seekers, ensuring high-quality assessments and care planning.
* Conduct Return Home Interviews and develop positive, trusting relationships with young people.
* Apply strong assessment and analytical skills, ensuring accurate and timely recording in line with statutory timescales.
* Demonstrate expertise in Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and trauma-informed approaches.
* Support conflict resolution and emotional regulation for dysregulated teenagers with challenging lived experiences.
* Prepare thoroughly for supervision, prioritise reflective practice, and seek guidance when needed.
* Collaborate with multi-agency teams to ensure holistic support and safeguarding.
* Attend office-based duties, team meetings, and other required sessions as arranged by the People’s Directorate.
Requirements:
* Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
* Significant experience working with vulnerable adolescents, particularly asylum seekers.
* Strong understanding of trauma, safeguarding, and exploitation risks.
* Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to work independently while maintaining reflective supervision and team collaboration.
