Are you tired of firefighting breakdowns instead of fixing the root cause? This is an opportunity to step into a true reliability-led engineering role within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. You will take ownership of plant performance, reduce failure before it happens and play a key part in improving overall equipment effectiveness across the site.
The hiring manager is open to strong multi-skilled Maintenance Engineers who want to step up into a more reliability-focused position and develop their PLC capability further.
What You Will Do:
- Analyse equipment data across the plant to predict and prevent machine failure before it impacts production.
- Develop and enhance preventative maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
- Lead FMEA and structured root cause analysis to deliver permanent corrective actions.
- Diagnose and improve mechanical, electrical and PLC-related issues within automated production equipment.
- Maintain and update machine software to ensure maximum availability and performance.
- Support and develop Maintenance Technicians in TPM and PLC capability.
- Manage maintenance suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring cost, quality and delivery objectives are achieved.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the implementation of new digital tools across the facility.
What You Will Bring:
- time-served via a recognised Electrical or Mechanical apprenticeship, with NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent experience supported by a Wiring Regulations certificate (17th or 18th Edition)
- Strong background in plant maintenance and preventative maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with reliability methodologies such as FMEA or structured root cause analysis is desirable.
- PLC programming and troubleshooting experience - this can be basic level, with a genuine desire to develop further.
- Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment - automotive experience desirable.
- A proactive, data-led mindset and the ambition to move from reactive maintenance into a more strategic reliability role.
This role is central to improving plant stability, reducing unplanned downtime and increasing long-term equipment performance. You will have real ownership, real influence and the opportunity to move the site from reactive maintenance towards a structured, predictive reliability model.
Location:
Based at a well-established manufacturing facility in the West Midlands, within easy reach of Lichfield, Tamworth and surrounding areas.
