Head of Format Development

As Head of Format Development, you will lead a team to develop the overall format strategy for TG Jones shops.
You will collaborate closely with departments such as Commercial, Property, Operations, PMO, and Marketing to define the medium-to-long-term store experience and space strategy. Your role involves exploring key future-facing opportunities to create a vision and roadmap for our stores, propositions, and customer experience.
You will contribute to the overall commercial strategy to ensure future propositions align with it, while also informing investment plans to understand the timeline for shop investments.
You will work cross-functionally with project owners, lead early-stage brief development for new trials, and ensure these briefs align with the store experience strategy and business plan.
You will support your teams in prioritizing decisions and coordinating portfolio projects.
What you will be doing
1. Lead the creation and development of the overall Store Format strategy, considering:
* The vision for different store sizes and customer missions, considering our store operating model and its impact on store choices.
* Macro space planning, including principles for layouts, flows, and adjacencies.
* Micro space decisions, including product placement and ranging.
* Integration of third-party partnerships and promotional space.
* Developing store of the future concepts alongside our Modella Family.
- Build capability within our display planning function to optimize systems with third-party providers and enhance range review processes, ensuring data-driven decisions.
- Drive and develop our range optimization projects, focusing on assortment and selection tools.
- Prioritize workload with the layout team to maximize project value.
- Use space analytics to ensure effective in-store placement for seasonal events and promotions, working with commercial teams to analyze outcomes and improve future initiatives.
- Establish success metrics for projects, ensuring stakeholder alignment and timely issue resolution.
- Support business case development for new initiatives, including payback assessment and benefit measurement.
- Bring industry insights to the team, incorporating learnings from global competitors to enhance customer experience and profitability.
- Introduce new working methods, processes, and clear objectives to increase team capability and adapt to transformational changes.
