Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I trauma center requiring a VA or compact RN license and strong ED background.
Responsibilities Work in a busy Emergency Department of a Level I trauma center
73 rooms plus 24 hallways, with no separate fast track area
Handles a daily volume of approximately 350 patients
Stroke, STEMI, and trauma cases managed
Patients requiring psychiatric care are medically cleared and admitted; sitters are used for suicidal patients
Must float to offsite EDs as needed: Fairfax City (10 beds, ~40 patients/day) and Reston/Herndon (7 beds, ~25 patients/day)
Works 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday per 6-week schedule
Required to take 1-2 on-call shifts per schedule period
Uses Epic EMR
Responsible for providing care to diverse ED patient populations, excluding direct trauma patient care
Holiday and on-call rotations required
Must be comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Security personnel are present in the ED
No psych patient holds in the department—patients are medically cleared and admitted
Must be willing to float to nearby offsite EDs
Scrub or dress code details are not specified
Requirements Active VA or compact RN license
Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and CPI certifications
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
Level I or II trauma experience required
Epic EMR experience highly preferred
Previous travel nursing experience is highly preferred
