KingsteigntonMedical Practice is seeking to recruit a patient centred GP to join our teamfor 6 clinical sessions a week on a permanent basis.

Main duties of the job
Youwill berequired to undertake all the reasonable duties of a GP including surgeries,home visits where necessary, medical examinations and other day-to-day clinicalduties that a doctor in General Practice undertakes. We welcome GPs with aspecialist interest such as diabetes, heart care etc
To support the Partners to manage theclinical caseload. The postholder will be expected to take part in leading onkey disease areas (monitoring trends in treatment, staff training andprescribing) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for thediverse patient list (in-house clinical services, patient participation andhealth promotion).
In accordance with the practice timetable as agreed, the post-holderwill make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties includingsurgery consultations, emergency, telephone consultations and queries,triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptionsand dealing with queries, patient medical reports and examinations (egInsurance Companies) on behalf of the Practice, referral letters (NHS andprivate), paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner

Job responsibilities

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presentingproblems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workerswithin the organisation
Recording clear and contemporaneous computer-based consultation notes toagreed standards
Compiling and issuing computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions(avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
Prescribing in accordance with practice policies and regard to locallyagreed or national guidelines
Seek advice and refer to other clinicians where necessary and/orappropriate
In general, the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normalduties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Awareness of compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines,eg prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, CQC andImproving Quality and Supporting Practices (IQSP) visits
A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence basedbest practice
Keep a portfolio and endure regular appraisal
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting withinthe organisation
Contributing to the development of computer based patient records
Attending training, practice meetings and events organised by thePractice or other agencies where appropriate
Support in the teaching and training of medical students and nurses
Meet all timescales/deadlines for audits and written returns to ensurethat the Practice meets quality standards and receives the designated funding(eg Enhanced Services returns, annual QOF audit etc).

Qualifications
* Fully qualified GP with GMC registration, on Medical Performers List
* Annual appraisal and revalidation (where appropriate)
* General Practice (Vocational Training Scheme) trained
* UK driving Licence
* UK work permit (if required)
* Disclosure and Barring Service Check
