The role
To plan, organise, develop, and coordinate the schedule, budget, issues and risks of delegated capital projects at Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park in support of RZSS’ vision and mission, ensuring all contract information and design documentation is in place to deliver safe and coordinated projects.
Some of the things you’ll do:
1. Contribute to various stages of capital projects including works being assessed, prepared, scheduled, and allocated.
2. Assist in the development of project management documents such as project budgets, project schedules, scope statements and project plans
3. Provide input and facilitate concept design reviews, feasibility studies, and design team meetings.
4. Participate in the spatial and design planning of facilities and enclosures, ensuring functionality, accessibility, and integration with animal welfare and visitor experience.
5. Review, interpret and contribute to architectural and engineering drawings to ensure alignment with project goals and operational requirements.
6. Coordinate the allocation of project resources to ensure the project team has what’s needed at the right time
7. Tender project work when required. Produce accurate tender documents to ensure projects can be priced to provide best value for budget.
8. Meeting with project clients/contributors to assess their needs and define project requirements, acceptance criteria and project timelines; acting as the central communication point between departments and project stakeholders.
9. Manage and co-ordinate the work of contractors, to ensure it is carried out according to agreed quality standards, budgets, and timescales.
10. Manage the process of carrying out surveys and technical inspections of buildings.
What we’re looking for:
11. Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, architecture, surveying or equivalent
12. Understanding of Planning and Building Regulations
13. Understanding of basic principles of structural design, including ability to understand design drawings
14. Working knowledge and implementation of Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations
15. Working knowledge of Health and Safety considerations in a construction environment.
16. Ability to understand and work within budgets

18. 37.5hr working week (may require some weekend working)
