We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Ward Manager at our prestigious Highgate Hospital. You will be a confident clinical leader who is passionate about delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care within a fast-paced surgical environment. You will provide strong, visible leadership to ensure the efficient running of the Ward where you will oversee day-to-day operations, including staffing, patient flow, workforce planning, and the professional development of staff.
The successful candidate will demonstrate robust clinical skills, strong communication, and the ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team. You will champion evidence-based practice, drive service improvements, and foster a positive culture focused on safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
As a Ward Manager, you will:
* Ensure effective day‑to‑day running of the ward, including patient flow and bed management
* Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges to maximise theatre utilisation
* Oversee patient assessments, care plans, risk management, and discharge planning
* Act as a clinical role model and support complex clinical decision‑making
* Lead, supervise, and motivate the multidisciplinary ward team
* be responsible for rota management, staffing levels, skill mix, and sickness absence
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with surgeons, anaesthetists, and consultants
* Identify opportunities to improve services, pathways, and patient outcomes
