Patient Pathway Assistant – Cardiology

The Heart and Chest Department, forming part of the Medical Directorate at Southend Hospital providing an Outpatient Service and Ward Based Care has an exciting opportunity within the Cardiology department to join our friendly, supportive team.
* Provide a comprehensive administrative support service to the Cardiology service.
* Support with efficient and accurate bookings into appropriate clinics.
* Support our test tracking processes.
* Maintain effective communication with clinical and non-clinical staff both within the Trust.
* Provide support to ensure full utilisation of all Cardiology clinics.
* Provide a high standard of front‑line customer care and be a lead point of contact for patients regarding complaints and queries, always displaying empathy and diplomacy.
* Manage the cardiology referrals within the Cardiology service.
Please note there is no Visa Sponsorship available for this role.
Main duties of the job
* Process new referrals internally and externally via ERS, printing and distributing in a timely manner.
* Provide ECG opinions.
* liaise with the secretarial team.
* Book appointments.
* Undertake any other administrative activities appropriate to this post as directed by the managerial staff.
* Work closely with Cardiology supervisors/managers to understand the team priorities on a day‑to‑day basis.
* Cross‑cover colleagues in times of annual leave or sickness within the team.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education including at least 5 GCSE levels or equivalent.
* Admin NVQ.
Experience
* Demonstrable administrative experience.
* Experience of working in a public sector/NHS.
* Experience of hospital systems namely Medway, CED, ICE, ERS.
