Peepal Tree Press is hiring a Social Media Executive

About Peepal Tree
Peepal Tree Press is an independent publisher and writer development organisation specialising in Caribbean and Black British writing, actively committed to the goals of racial, gender and LGBTQI+ equality and publishing work that enables British society to confront its past as a colonising and imperial nation. Peepal Tree employs eight people, but only two full-time. We are part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio and receive some public funding.
What you’ll be doing
-Creating and planning social media campaigns and posts for our three main platforms (Instagram, Bluesky, Facebook) as well as additional posts on LinkedIn and YouTube. We would welcome ideas for growing newer sites such as Substack.
-Supporting the publicity efforts of the Marketing & Publicity team.
-Supporting and working with online events programming and the social media strategy.
-Coming up with publication day posts, book teasers, cover reveals, reading lists.
-Promotion and attendance at events.
-Coming up with original social media content for the promotion of our backlist and Caribbean Modern Classics series as well as new publications.
-Building our blogger base and organic readership with Marketing team.
This exciting and varied role supports sales, marketing and digital activity as well as publicity and events. There is scope for the role and days to expand. This is a great role for somebody looking for more independence and creativity in creating social content and strategy.
We welcome and encourage applications from candidates who have an academic interest in the Caribbean or are of Caribbean or Global Majority heritage.
Knowledge, skills and experience
-1–2 years in a social media or marketing assistant role.
-Familiar with building a social media strategy.
-Familiarity with book marketing.
-Knowledge and enjoyment of Caribbean literature and culture.

You will be managed by our Marketing and Communications Manager, Lucy Kent, and work with Operations Director Hannah Bannister and Publicist Adam Lowe. You will also work with our Founding Editor Jeremy Poynting and Senior Fiction Editor Jacob Ross.
