Following an office reorganisation, this is a newly created and additional role for the school, offering an opportunity to consolidate financial systems and processes and to grow the role to meet the school's needs.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience in accounts within a similar role, excellent administrative and organisational skills, advanced interpersonal skills, and a strong working knowledge of financial systems, including ledger management. A relevant accounting qualification is preferred.

Job Description
Post Title: Accounts Assistant
Responsible to: Finance and Office Manager
Core Purpose of the Role:
To support the Finance Manager and Director of Finance and Operations in ensuring the smooth operation of school finances and maintaining secure, efficient financial systems and activities.
The role involves all accounting functions, with a focus on managing purchasing, purchase ledger, sales invoicing, banking, petty cash, and trip reconciliation, adhering to school policies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the Finance Manager to undertake:
Purchasing & Invoicing
* Manage requisitions and purchasing via the accounting system and manually as needed, in line with budgets.
* Support departments with purchasing queries and guidance.
* Process purchase orders and ensure goods receipt.
* Handle supplier invoices and credit notes.
* Verify new suppliers and update the system accordingly.
* Place credit card orders per approval and record in the system.
* Reconcile purchase ledger monthly and prepare payments.
Sales
* Process sales invoices for lettings and other activities.
* Perform monthly reconciliations and credit control.
Trips and Visits
* Assist with trip administration, balancing accounts post-trip.
* Arrange invoices for debts and maintain records for audit compliance.
Cash and Banking
* Count, check, and record cash income.
* Record banking transactions for school and trust accounts.
* Deposit funds and reconcile petty cash monthly.
Administration
* Record Gift Aid monies monthly.
* Assist with payroll and provide administrative support.
* Answer calls and cover reception if needed.
* Act as a First Aider and assist with student welfare.
Other Responsibilities
* Perform duties efficiently and economically.
* Follow the Finance Manual and maintain confidentiality.
* Support school ethos and values, promoting wellbeing and safeguarding.
